Monthly Meetings

Fareham Art Group meets on the last Thursday of each month at Trinity Church Hall, Fareham. Entry is free for members and £3.00 for non-members. Refreshments are available. Please note that in January and February our demonstrations take place online. On these occasions members will be sent the relevant joining instructions by email.

A minimum of 5 professional artist demonstrations / informative talks take place each year using a variety of styles and mediums; an opportunity to learn from experts. There is also the opportunity to enter your own work in our competitions to win one of 7 trophies awarded annually. There are no monthly meetings in July and August. The Annual General Meeting is held in September and the Christmas event is held in December.

Weekly Painting Sessions – Tuesdays and Saturdays

Location:
St John the Evangelist Church Hall, Upper St Michaels Grove, Fareham;

This is a group-led paint along session, giving an opportunity to learn from fellow artists in a friendly atmosphere. Refreshments are provided.

**Note that the group takes a break for Christmas, Easter and occasionally when the hall is not available.

Saturday Workshops with Professional Artists and our workshop programme

Our new and exciting workshop programme will help our members to gain new skills and/or improve existing ones by joining in a variety of workshops and member led tutorials. Landscape workshop with Joe Francis Dowden
We’ll study a photograph of the landscape of Lathkilldale, Derbyshire. Using watercolours. We’ll produce a finished painting step by step. One to one guidance as available/necessary.
Includes all materials except brushes and palette.

Cat Portait workshop with Helen Dowse
We’ll study a cat portrait from a photo reference looking at eyes, ears and fur detail. Using
acrylic inks we’ll work on producing a cat portrait painting. Includes all materials
required.

Summer Outdoor Painting Days

During July, August and September we arrange a programme of outdoor painting sessions. Details of the 2025 En-Plein Air Painting Days along with a downloadable summary which gives directions to venues, times, facilities and more will be shared here in Summer 2025

Exhibitions

The group holds an annual exhibition every autumn to display and sell members work. For 2025 takes place at the Titchfield Community Centre, Mill Street, Titchfield, PO14 4AB on 25 and 26 October.

We seek to exhibit at other exhibitions throughout the year and these can be arranged by a group of members
