Our latest news and updates:
Annual Exhibition
The committee is pleased to report another successful exhibition. Financially we have broken even on the event with income from the café, art materials and books, tombola and craft stalls covering our costs including the hall hire, publicity, prizes and preview evening. We sold 18 pictures, plus several portfolios, craft items during the event, and over 80 cards. We have also received many positive comments and feedback from members and visitors who came at the weekend. Prize winners have been posted on our Facebook page and on our website.
Many thanks to all who helped in any way towards the event-stewarding, setting up/taking down, sales assistants, café helpers, donating prizes, art materials and books, making cakes and anything else! We could not have done it without your support!
Specific thanks to the exhibition coordinator and the exhibition subcommittee who have worked tirelessly to make this event successful. You will appreciate that such an event requires a lot of planning, organisation and effort and also a detailed understanding of what is required and when; it is the largest event we organise. Sometimes there are hiccups along the way and perhaps things haven’t always met everyone’s expectations, but at the end of the day we had a great exhibition and we are all volunteers.
November Demonstration
A reminder that we have a demonstration of Canal Art – Roses by Terri Robinson on 30th November at Trinity Hall Fareham. See our What’s on page for a full programme of events.
Please note that due to a prior event, we are not able to access the hall until 7:15, so don’t arrive too early to avoid waiting outside.
Weekly Sessions – dates
- The last date for Tuesday afternoon painting sessions is 12th December 2023. The group will start back after Christmas on 16th January.
- The Saturday painters group’s last date this term is 16th December and the group recommences on 6th January 2024.
Xmas Party
Our members’ Christmas event takes place on Thursday 7th December at Trinity Church Hall Fareham from 7pm. Please remember to confirm your attendance using the online invitation included in your emailed November news, or let a member of the committee know at your weekly painting session.
This popular event includes the Jack Smith Trophy Competition which has the theme of ‘Santa’s Workshop’. You can create your artwork in any medium, and the winner will be chosen by popular vote during the evening.
In addition there will be other activities, a quiz, raffle and drinks and snacks.
Committee Vacancies
As you know the group is currently operating without a Chairperson. We also need to fill the Exhibition Coordinator role for next year’s event. The remaining committee members are endeavoring to keep the activities of the club going but would welcome additional support going forward to help spread the workload. If you are interested in helping on the committee please speak to one of the committee to find out more about the roles.
